Why do I need to verify my email?
Email verification protects your account and unlocks content creation. Until you verify, you can read public memories but cannot post, comment, follow, or send messages. We send a code to your inbox at sign-up — enter it on the verify-email screen, or click the link in the email. Unverified accounts are auto-deleted after 72 hours.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password" and enter your email. We send a one-time reset code valid for 15 minutes. The code is single-use. If you do not receive it within a couple of minutes, check spam or use the topic-form below to reach support.
Why won't Sign in with Apple work?
Make sure you are signed into iCloud on your device and that two-factor authentication is enabled on your Apple ID. On the web, you must allow popups from memorymaps.app. If you previously created an account with email + password, sign in that way first, then link your Apple ID from Settings.
Why won't Sign in with Google work?
Make sure popups are allowed from memorymaps.app and that you are signed into the correct Google account. If you have multiple Google accounts, choose the one matching your MemoryMaps email. If you previously created an account with email + password, sign in that way first, then link Google from Settings.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Your account enters a 30-day grace period during which you can sign in to cancel the deletion. After 30 days, all your data is permanently removed across our systems. You can also request a data export before deletion to keep your memories.
How does the 30-day grace period work?
When you delete your account, we mark it as pending-deletion and hide your profile from everyone immediately. For 30 days, you can sign back in and choose "Cancel deletion" to fully restore your account. After 30 days, the deletion is permanent and irreversible. Your username is reserved for 90 days after permanent deletion.

How do I create a memory?
Tap "New Memory" on your dashboard, upload photos or videos, tag a location on the map, add a caption and tags, then choose visibility — public, followers-only, private, story (24hr), or delayed posting.
What are Adventures?
Adventures are animated guided tours through multiple locations. Think of them as a visual travel journal — create one for a road trip, a food tour, or a month-long vacation. Each adventure connects your memories into a narrative journey on the map.
What are Story memories?
Stories are ephemeral memories that automatically disappear after 24 hours, similar to Instagram Stories but pinned to a real location on the map. Perfect for sharing in-the-moment experiences without cluttering your permanent map.
What is delayed posting?
When creating a public memory, you can delay its visibility by 1 minute to 3 days. The memory stays private until the delay expires, then automatically goes public. Great for sharing from sensitive locations without broadcasting your current position in real time.
What is "On This Day"?
On This Day shows you memories from the same date in previous years — up to 10 years back. It is a built-in nostalgia feature that surfaces forgotten moments automatically each day.

How does content moderation work?
All uploaded images are automatically scanned by AI for inappropriate content. Flagged content is hidden until reviewed by our moderation team. We also strip EXIF metadata from photos to protect your privacy — your camera model, GPS coordinates, and timestamps are removed before the image is stored.
How is my photo metadata handled?
Every uploaded image has its EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata stripped on the server before it is stored. Your camera model, software version, GPS coordinates, and original timestamp do not persist. The location you tag manually is stored separately as a feature, not as embedded metadata.
Can I make my account private?
Yes. Private accounts require follow requests — only approved followers can see your memories. Your profile photo, display name, and bio remain visible, but your memories, map, and stats are hidden from non-followers. Toggle this in Settings → Privacy.
Can I block or mute someone?
Yes. Blocking hides your profiles from each other completely — they cannot see your content, and you do not see theirs anywhere. Muting hides a user from your feed and map without them knowing. Both are reversible from Settings → Privacy.

Why isn't my photo uploading?
Check that the file is under 10 MB for images or 100 MB for videos, and that videos are 60 seconds or shorter. Most upload failures are network-related — try again on Wi-Fi or a stronger signal. If the issue persists, your photo may have failed automated content moderation, in which case it does not appear in your library.
Why don't I see push notifications?
Confirm push permission is granted in your device settings (iOS: Settings → MemoryMaps → Notifications; Android: Settings → Apps → MemoryMaps → Notifications). Inside the app, check Settings → Notifications and make sure each notification type is enabled. Web push notifications are not yet supported — only the mobile app receives push.
How do I open MemoryMaps links from email?
On a phone with the app installed, tap any memorymaps.app link and the app opens directly to the memory, profile, or adventure. On desktop, the link opens in your browser. If the link does not open the app, install or update it from the App Store or Play Store.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
Web: Chrome 90+, Safari 14+, Firefox 90+, Edge 90+. Mobile: iOS 16+ and Android 8+. The map renderer requires WebGL2; older browsers fall back to a static image grid. We aggressively support modern browsers and do not maintain compatibility shims for IE or legacy browsers.

How do I update my payment method?
On iOS, update your Apple ID payment method in Settings → Apple ID → Payment & Shipping. For web and Android subscriptions, sign in and go to Settings → Premium → Manage Subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal where you can change your card, billing address, or download invoices.
How do I get a receipt?
Apple sends an automatic email receipt for every charge — check the inbox of your Apple ID email. Stripe also emails receipts to the address on your subscription. You can download all past invoices from Stripe's customer portal (Settings → Premium → Manage Subscription on web or Android). For older receipts, use the support form below.
