1. Our commitment
In plain English: Protecting minors is non-negotiable. These standards apply to everything on MemoryMaps.
MemoryMaps prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every form. These standards apply to all content and interactions on the Service — photos, videos, captions, comments, direct messages, profiles, and any other feature — and to every user, without exception.
We design our policies to meet or exceed applicable child safety laws and the child safety requirements of the app stores we distribute through, including Google Play’s Child Safety Standards policy and Apple’s App Review Guidelines.
2. Prohibited content and behavior
In plain English: Anything that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor is banned.
We prohibit, without limitation:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, real or synthetic, including illustrated or computer-generated depictions.
- Any content that sexualizes minors, presents minors in a sexualized context, or facilitates access to such content.
- Grooming: befriending or manipulating a minor to enable sexual abuse or exploitation, on or off the platform.
- Sextortion: threatening or blackmailing a minor using real or alleged intimate imagery.
- Trafficking of minors or advertising a child for sexual exploitation.
- Contact or conduct intended to endanger, harass, or exploit a minor in any other way.
Violations result in immediate content removal and account termination, evidence preservation, and reporting to the authorities described in Section 5.
3. Prevention and moderation
In plain English: Uploaded media is proactively reviewed, and human moderators act on reports.
Media uploaded to MemoryMaps is proactively reviewed for child safety violations before it circulates, and flagged content is hidden pending review. Reports from users are reviewed by a human, and child-safety reports are treated with the highest priority.
When we identify apparent CSAE, we immediately remove the content, suspend the responsible account, preserve evidence under a legal hold so it is available to law enforcement, and file the reports described in Section 5. Accounts suspended for child safety violations are not eligible for reinstatement, and related account deletion requests are deferred while a legal hold applies.
4. How to report
In plain English: Report in the app in two taps, or email us. Reports are reviewed promptly.
Every memory, comment, message, and profile on MemoryMaps can be reported in-app: open the item’s menu (“…”) and choose Report. Reports are confidential — the reported user is not told who reported them.
You can also email our child safety team directly at hello@memorymaps.app. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local law enforcement first. You can additionally report to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org or a hotline in your country via INHOPE.
5. Reporting to authorities
In plain English: Apparent CSAM is reported to NCMEC, and we cooperate with law enforcement worldwide.
We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in accordance with our obligations under applicable law, including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and we cooperate with NCMEC referrals to regional and national law enforcement worldwide.
We preserve associated content and account records under legal hold as required so that they remain available to investigating authorities, and we respond to valid legal process from law enforcement agencies.
6. Minimum age
In plain English: MemoryMaps is for ages 13 and up. Underage accounts are removed.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use MemoryMaps, as set out in our Terms of Service. Accounts identified as belonging to users under the minimum age are removed. If you believe an account belongs to a child under 13, report it in-app or email hello@memorymaps.app.
7. Child safety contact
In plain English: A designated contact answers for our CSAE prevention practices.
Our designated child safety point of contact can speak to the prevention practices on this page and to our compliance with child safety laws and app store child safety policies:
